Cell Phone: KDDI A5520SAII Perfect Phone for Kids

August 23, 2006

KDDI A5520SAIIParents nowadays give kids cell phones with the idea that they’ll be able to contact them wherever they are, whenever they need them. The only question is how does a parent contact a child when their batteries run out? Here’s where the KDDI A5520SAII comes in. When the unit is switched off or gets turned off due to a drained battery, the last known location of the phone (according to GPS) is sent to a preset email address or cell phone number via email and SMS. Additional security features include a “crime prevention buzzer” which can only be switched off by the user, possibly with password, when initiated, and a battery lock which prevents battery removal and buzzer shut down.

It is forecasted to be available to Japanese parents in September, in either pink or blue colors. The handset measures 48 x 94 x 21 mm and weighs about 105 grams. It posses a 2.2 inch primary internal display with 240 x 320 pixel resolution. More details when the phone is officially released.
